How necessary are they? I have run out and there isn't a home brew shop within miles of us, so it will have to be online ordering and I don't fancy paying the postage on 1 tub!! (got plenty of everything else of course!!!)Â I see Jennym's post on it, but don't fancy (actually can't be bothered!) to sterilise my wine!
 DP
The are only sodium metabisulphite, used to sterilise the wine.
A lot of supermarkets now stock stuff like that, you may get them from a pharmacy.
I read somewhere that you can use a drop of milton, it is the same stuff.
Hope this helps you,
Derekthefox :D
Thanks Derek, it just so happens I have some of that for sterilising my equipment! :o Now how much to use I wonder, will have a read on the packet.
Campden tablets are on sale in our local Wilko's stores as well as Morrisons supermarket around here. Have you looked in your local stores?
Milton :-\ what about the strength though ,Surely this will be higher .When added with potassium sorbate problems at the end of fermentation i would have thought it would very be hit or miss ???
for the sake of a £1 and p+p is it worth ruining your wine?
Oh didn't know Morrisons sold them, would that be in the Pharmacy bit per chance? Will have a look next time i am in! Thanks for that travman
I think they have a section where they stock winemaking stuff . . .
Derekthefox :D
not in ours sadly :'( :'( No one round these parts seems to do winemaking stuff anymore >:(
I suppose that's one of the reasons I sterilise. ;D
