Title: Sprouts
Post by: Mrs Ava on September 02, 2005, 22:57:27
The lovely little creeping catterpillars have munched away at some of my purple sprouts eating the lovely young sprouts from the leaf joints! >:(  Will sprouts regrow there, or will I have to wait for the plants to grow taller for more sprouts further up?

Something will regrow there but whether you will get recognisable 'sprouts' is unlikely this late is the season. Given the flavour of red/purple sprouts who needs 'sprouts' as the loose leaves are worth eating alone? In my opinion of course.
If you want quicker growth try 'topping out' the main growing point.

Top the plants, if they don't have too many "visitors", and eat them first. Remember, if you haven't had a frost yet, they won't be as good as later in the season.
