Title: Potato chitting?

::) I put aside a few Arron spuds for the Xmas harvest I left them on the ground and forgot about em :P they are turning green should I dump em or will they still be OK for sowing later this month? they haven't sprouted or anything ??? many thanks ;)

They will be fine, Roy. Put them in some heat to get them to sprout first though. Are you sure this a daylength neutral variety though?

Thanks John, I was happy to read the first part but didn't understand the "daylength neutral variety" bit, can you enlighten me please?

Day length neutral varieties are 1st and 2nd earlies - they grow and produce tubours based ontheir age.  Maincrops rely on shortenign days and the approach of autumn before they produce tubours.  Therefore christmas spuds need to be 1st or 2bd earlies.
