I've got a mangle, and a wash house, a copper that you light a fire under, and astone sink, a dolly tub and one of those great big stick things you push it all up and down with :)
Lovely photo. We don't get butterflies like that sort near me :(
I just hand my washing to daughter in law!!!!! Bless her , my kitchen is so small that a washing machine would be a nuisance., I was going to put machine in outhouse but it was rather expensive to run the water out there, well that's my excuse. Donna is a diamond. Incidently her Gran died last Thursday she was 102!!! Lorna.
stop winding us up wardy :-\ :-\ :-\ i bet you just have a maid ;D ;D ;D
Honest injun. I have wash house, mangle, stone sink, copper, the dolly tub and ponch (?) I didn't say I used em to do me washin though as I prefer me automatic. Maid! I wish :)
so have you ever used it wardy must be really hard work , think i would just stick to my machine , was it all there when you bought the house ,
Did you knit it yourself? they both look lovely ;D
What a stunning butterfly ! Beautiful photo. ;D ;D :D
Yes Dibber it's all there, and the air raid shelter. All just so. It's a Victorian house and the same lady who died at 99 had lived there all her life. Her parents owned it, then the daughter and now us. Only 2 families have lived in it since 1894. I've not used the mangle myself but it looks a goer. It's from Stephenson's Arcade in Chesterfield which I can well remember in my own lifetime. Not there now o course regrettably. The wash house was practically falling down but we've renovated it and had to heighten the roof as my OH couldn't get in it as it was so low. The air raid shelter is my husband's love and he's put a light in it. Why I'm not really sure ;D
what a lovely bit of history , i bet there is not any peeps that could say they still have a wash room and air raid shelter , i think it is really good that you restored it and not rebuilt on it or pulled it down
