Title: ripe pumpkins already?
Post by: Nigella on September 01, 2005, 16:02:14
One of my pumpkin plants (a baby bear) has completely died. Leaving me with two orange-ish pumpkins. The best way to describe them is pale orange with a few green stripes.  :-\

My other baby bear pumpkin plants are still ok .... and the pumpkins are turning from green to deep orange.

Are my pale pumpkins ripe - as the plant has now died or will they ripen further in the sun / warmth without their plant ?  ???

Any ideas very welcome !!  ;D

It depends what variety they are, but they don't sound ripe.

They will finish ripening in the sun - with the leaves gone it will actually allow more sun to get at them

this happed to my baby bear last year.  i took the pumpkins home and left them on a sunny window sill, and they changed to a lovely orange colour.
