Finished full time work yesterday - yippee!!!!! ;D ;D ;D Said I was retiring but not really as have got a little part time job but its only 3 days a week and 10 minutes away at the other end of my road. Sorted. Bet you'll never guess what I'm planning to do with most of that extra spare time I'm going to have........ ???
We're off on 2 weeks hols on Monday to Canada and the States have of course bought home far more stuff from the lottie than we'll ever eat before we go - oh well. such is life - just feel so very, very fortunate.
You're right, Peri, it is a privilage when you can choose to only work part-time - and believe me it is even better when you can stop work altogether and be master/mistress of your own time - no longer are Sunday evenings a time of depression thinking of Monday morning. And it's no hardship to put in longer hours at the lottie
Glad you are enjoying it Periwinkle. I was in a comparable situation about 5 years ago, was made redundant from a high stress engineering position. Eventually got a job as a technician at a local college. Simple hours, but so relaxing it is a joy to go to work! And good holidays to boot!
Derekthefox :D
Periwinkle, why don`t you take your extra goodies from the lottie along to an senior peoples home or your local hospice. :)
Lovely idea Rosebud, it's not THAT much extra just that there are so many things in production at the moment and I couldn't resist! Gave away loads this week to different people as always and have organised a lottie sitter when I'm away to help herself to things - but she asked me how to cook runner beans so not sure how that will go........
What I didn't make clear is that what I'm REALLY looking forwars to is all that extra lottie time.
And I shall go on my bike not in the car
And I shall keep a journal/notes of what I plant when and how it does.
Well, one out of three will still be great ;D
Periwinkle Good news for you and great you can spend more time on your lotty and whatever else you want to do :) I hope you enjoy your fab sounding holiday. I started my own lotty journal yesterday afternoon when I couldn't be bothered to do anything else. I put it all in a ring binder and it's most photos in date order (sort of) with notes at the side of what things are and how good they've done. Everyone was reading it at the tea table and thought it a good idea and great to look back on. We've only had our plot one year and all the "before" pictures had everyone laughing about what state it was in and all the hard work we had to do. I thought my family would think it a bit naff of me to do it but I was completely wrong :)
Thanks for your good wishes Wardy. Your journal sounds great - The idea of including pics is good - isn't modern technology wonderful? - wish I had taken pics of our lottie when we took it over last year but too late now!
Me too. Ours wasn't too bad as just waist height with grass and thistles. Still scary for an absolute novice. My OH and brother-in-law had a controlled burn and that at least made it look better. The rest is history.
