Anyone seen the stuff in the press - mainly the Guardian - about EDEXCEL's GCSE marking this year? The RE exam was affected worst, which is the one I examine (and I AM qualified to do so!). Other humanities subjects have also been affected. They swopped to a new online marking system to avoid the awful business of having thousands upon thousands of papers being sent to and fro round the country, with the inevitable lost papers etc. that results in. They lost a lot of examiners who wouldn't make the change, I think there were other problems which haven't come out yet, and they ended up using most of the staff at Head Office to mark papers. Totally unqualified people were doing so with as little as 20 minutes' training.

Fortunately my exams were AQA although I'm sure someone will come out with a horror story about them as well.

My lad got 2 x B, 3 x A & 5 x A*. I'm taking some of the credit as I'm sure all the home grown fresh fruit and veg that I have 'encouraged' him to eat helped him concentrate! (well he certainly didn't get his brains from me)

Ani, that's fantastic  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I take it you'll be keeping up the fresh fruit and veg for his A Levels  :)

My best friend is a teacher and a moderator, he mentioned something about this a while ago, but I guess he was one of a few who decided to continue.  I didn't get the chance to ask him about it as he upped and offed around the world for the entire summer holiday break!  First postcard was from Vancouver, second postcard received four weeks later was from New Zealand!  And they say teacher's don't have good holidays  ;D

Yes Maddy, but he's put his foot down at mashed courgette on toast or sliced on cereal ;D ;D ;D (got to use them up somehow)
