This is my first year and I'm loving the whole experience including sharing my successes and failures with everyone on the site. One thing, however is some of the weird vegetable combinations my wife and I are eating as a result of my "pick it and eat it at its' peak" policy.
Last night we sat down to Globe Artichokes followed by Corn on the Cob, followed by Braised Florence Fennel with Potatoes, Runner Beans and Baby Carrots. After all that, we couldn't manage any meat ;D
It was all absolutely delicious but my wife is convinced that I must be smoking something strange in the Potting Shed ;)
Anyone else with strange dinners???
We had a barbecue of lotty veg last weekend and we had some wierd mixtures there I have to say ;D In one pot we had onions, bulb fennel and squash which we roasted in oil Very nice though :)
i have made a 'broth' from french beans, tomatos, broccoli and kohlrabi. tasted lovely with some chunky bread :)
sometimes the amiounts i pick dont warrent cooking each veg on its own, so they all go into a 'ratatouille' style thick soup thingy :)
Portion of Somerset brie, good dollop of gooseberry jam, small plate, microwave about 15 seconds, better than ....
My neice was eating vanilla ice cream and cherry tomatoes last weekend. She said they looked like raspberries if you squinted and tasted just as good.

That sounds absolutely superb. As I'm down in Somerset, I've got no excuse for not trying it, apart from having to plant some GoosGogg bushes and waiting till next year for the first harvest. ;D
There's nothing strange about those veggie combinations. In fact they sound delicious. I eat like that most days. (Although sadly not all of it homegrown).
Last night we had garlic, celeriac, sweet potato, courgette, peppers and beetroot roasted with pasta.
Tonight we'll have carrots, courgettes, peppers, aubergine, beetroot, asparagas stalks, broccoli stalks and whatever else is in the fridge in tomato sauce with pasta.
hungry now. where's my breakfast banana?
