Title: Storing potatoes
Post by: Paulines7 on August 23, 2005, 13:41:38
I don't have much luck storing potatoes and would like some advice from fellow gardeners, please.   I store my potatoes in bags in a large, disused chicken shed that is not frost free and they eventually succumb to the cold.  I was thinking that this year I might try adding general purpose compost to the bags.  Has anyone ever tried this?  If I leave the potatoes in the ground for longer than necessary, the thin sandy soil exposes the tubers which then turn green so I need to dig them out fairly soon.  I have mainly King Edwards and Pink Fir Apples.    :-\
