HELP! Does anyone know where I can get a mini smoking kit?? I want to have a go at smoking my jalapenos, and I know I've seen somewhere a kit for smoking in the oven. Was it here??
And does anyone know if it'll work...flying completely blind with it. :)
Mum got mine from Lidls way back when, but I am yet to have a success with it! Nearly burnt my kitchen down, but hey, I love an adventure - extreme gardening and extreme cookery!
I have seen several chefs do it where they place in the bottom of an old wok some foil, then some rice and sugar and tealeaves of your choice, then I think some more foil, or a rack type thing, then put it on the heat....when it starts to smoke the food is put in and left for a set time to cook and smoke. http://www.uktvfood.co.uk/index.cfm/uktvfoodpreview/recipes.newrecipe/ID/511655.shtml
Lakelands do smoker bags.

Hope this helps. Let us know how they go.
... if all else fails there's an American product called Liquid Smoke that is cheapest from eBay ... you add one drop to whatever you're cooking. Cheats R us! Good luck ::)
Thanks guys. I already use liquid smoke. I have to stock up whenever I'm in the States. Wonderful stuff. Particularly good on buffalo wings, if you can catch a buffalo... ;)
EJ, I've found some bags, going to order them and try 'em out. I wanna turn my chillies into chipotles. If it works, it'll be cheaper than buying them reay dried.
Buffalo wings!!!
Didn`t know they could fly :-\
