Title: I'm a ruffian.
Post by: Heldi on August 21, 2005, 23:47:44
Thought I'd tell you about what happened to me on Friday night.

About 9pm i took my dog Cassie out for a walk. I walk out of my street turn right an walk up to a scubby field.  Over the other side of the field is a rather dodgey estate. Anyway my cat Spook decided to follow. He kind've stalks the dog but if I try to get him to go back or grab him he runs away only to reappear a few seconds/minutes later.  For those who don't know,he is completely deaf.

I got to the field ,let my dog off the lead and off she trundled. Over to the left. We usually go right. Spook appeared and ran after Cass.  I walked down to the right knowing Cassie would have a pee then run down to me and then Spook would follow. Reason being, is that there is always a group of people sitting outside their houses over on the estate drinking, smoking, and a few dogs.  I turned to wait for Cass when i heard one of the gang say "There's a cat!" He then was urging his Staffordshire bull terrier to go and get it. I shouted "Oi do you mind, it's my cat" So next thing, two dogs, the other a mastiff/ridgeback (?) cross, were giving chase to Spook.Spook totally unaware was sat looking at Cass. I shouted to the gang to stop it. ( Using the F word). I thought I was about to witness my cat get ripped apart. Luckily Spook saw them just in time and legged it. So the dogs came after Cass who had run down to me. I wasn't too worried about Cass, she can look after herself she's a tough old dog but I was well peed off. I kicked the Staffie up the butt. I know I shouldn't have but it was two dogs onto one.It ran away. The other dog wouldn't go back to it's owners despite them shouting and shouting for it. I waited for Cassie to either give it a nip as it was hassling her or to come over to me to get her lead on to go home.

A woman.though I am stretched to call her that, came stomping over the field and started to threaten me. I mean really violent stuff.  All because I'd shouted at them to stop inciting their dogs to maul my cat. Ah but I was to blame for "walking the cat". Besides,  it wasn't them it was some other kid.

I don't frighten easy and can stand my own ground. I think I gave back as good as I got and didn't appear scared, which I think threw her, thinking about it now. I didn't threaten her though as I'm not that type. She is the owner of the mastiff dog. Anyway I was stood for about 20 mins standing up to her before her boyfriend pulled her away. She was going to bite my fingers off. Kick my head in etc etc. I got home and was shaking. Cassie didn't get her walk and Spook was missing for ages.

I told OH. He was shocked but he knows what I'm like. I'm not going to be threatened by anyone, even though she was bigger than me :o and probably used to brawling in the street. On the one hand I feel so annoyed that she reduced me to her scummy level..arguing in the street, on the other I feel like planting her one right in the mush! I wouldn't,its just how I feel.  I said to OH that you have to stand up to these people. The fact is,as OH said. If someone went over there and incited a couple of Japanese Akitas or Rotti's to go and maul her dog would she stand there and say nothing??!! I don't think so.

You did right Heldi, you should have kicked her up the arse as well, scummy cow.
If only i had got hold of the woman who almost ran into my daughters car last friday she would have got more than a kicked arse, she jumped a red light and all but see my two daughters and myself off, i would have chased her but she shook my girl up, there are some real morans out there. >:(

Poor spook.  I bet he pooped his pants.  It's a shame you didn't kick the kids up the arse too.  And no, you're not a scally, you were just defending your property with reasonable grounds.

Heidi - so glad you and the pets are fairing ok from this. If I was you I'd avoid walking there for a while (but I'm a total wimp). Good for you for standing up for yourself - as in Margaret's I cannot stand bullies. And I also cannot stand those who do not have any respect for animals.

Spook and Cass are both fine. I think Spook went into hiding for a bit as OH found him coming warily out from some undergrowth on the outskirts of the field when he took Cass back out for her walk late the same evening.

I've been back round there with Cass. It's our walking spot and somewhere for us to play ball.

She kept threatening to hit me but she didn't. Might be something to do with me being built like a brick s**t house  :o  lol!   I'm joking, I'm not! I'm not!  I kept thinking "Oh no I've got strappy shoes on, they're no good for fighting or for running away!"  I kicked that dog with the side of my foot by the way...didn't want my toe disappearing  :o ;D  I can laugh about it but it was quite shocking. When I got home and gathered myself together my arms felt like I'd been lifting heavy weights I'd been that tense.

I haven't seen that lassie since but unfortunately I usually see her every morning when I take my son to school. She has a 5/6 year old daughter.  I'm expecting her to say something  :( . I shall just have to remain aloof and ignore her.
