Typical....I wanted to spend some quality time on the plot tomorrow (well today now) and it is currently tiddling down, and has been all day!
And wanted a barby with the sproggles in the evening!
aagghh.

Oh well, got to the plot this morning, not for as long as I hoped, but will hopefully get there again tomorrow. Bright and breezy and that rain has really softened the ground wonderfully! Jack gave me 2 cucumbers for number one daughter - bonus! No barby this weekend....maybe next!
That rain was supposed to come through here - SO jealous!!
Sorry about your spoiled day Emma. Ahem, its been a lovely day here in the Borders. OH has just had himself a barby all to himself. Am sure you will manage one next weekend and we will get the rain !!!!

Rained here (West Essex) for a good 10-11 hours! Out of the corner of my eye, I swear I keep spotting my plants dancing! ;D

Got to the plot again today as planned. Finished weeding the upper half of plot down to the apple trees. Glad to see a dozen 'bright yellow' swiss chard seedlings now on 6 true leaves, giving me a total of 12 chard plants. Also 20 perpetual spinach seedlings are on their 3rd or 4th true leaves. To add to the winter greens, I have 2 kale Red Russian and 6 kale Nero plants, and that doesn't include all of the brassica's that are way into growth, and in some cases, almost ready for harvest!
Hope to get back to the plot next weekend....weather permitting!
Raining again today! I don't mind really, I did so much digging over the weekend that this can only be good for the ground, and will really give the squashes a boost. My only concern is the outdoor toms. I have picked all the ripe fruits so far, about 2 trusses up per plant, but there are at least 2 more trusses on each plant still green.....after all this rain I could do with a couple of really bright warm breezy days to get the next lot going.
Funny that - in my part of Essex it was dry all weekend. Didn't start raining until today (happy now because I won't have to water the garden when I get home from work). The garden is always happy when it rains after it's been so dry - so I am too!

Essex?! Hubby upstairs ill in bed, me sat at the computer in the lounge and out of the front window was blue sky and sun, out of the back window was thick black clouds, thunder & lightning! Very strange indeed. Anyway, we had a good old storm for about half an hour, rain bucketed down (darn well knocked the heads off of my fuschias, grrrr) I was just taken aback and how quickly it became so dark! Thinking about it now, I wish I'd taken quick before & after pictures!Â
Number one son and I were out in that YP. We had just dropped number one daughter off at a birthday party and decided to pop into the local nursery for a little garden retail therapy, and we watched a black ribbon of cloud approach over the farms. Number one son told me nightime was coming early. They battened down the hatches at the nursery, and as we approached home, the heavens opened. Big thunder and lightening. Even bigger and heavier raindrops! Then, as quickly as it came, it was gone again!
Didn't mind rain, thunder and lightening so much as the wind the day before. Flattened all but 2 of my sunflowers. Neighbour got a treat because we're off on hols at the weekend and I thought I'd rather harvest the flattened flowers than let them rot, so I gave her a bucket load of blooms.

Oh, what a lovely treat for her and how nice of you! Wish my neighbours would have the same idea as you! Ha ha. It's very windy here today.
The weather here is all over the place this week. I shant complain though, it's been so dry this summer, I'm enjoying the change :)
