Title: Hello, Newbie Here
Post by: Linda32 on August 17, 2005, 10:36:41
Hello all,  :)

Myself and OH have decided to apply for an allotment.

Have had a quick look around your site and it looks excellent.

I've been gardening for two years and have been bitten by the bug  ;D

We enjoy both fruit and veg and flowers  ;)

Hope to speak to you soon  :)

You'll be most welcome here.  There are loads of folks here with all the answers and technical know-how (I don't include myself in that accolade by the way  ;D)  There's a real mixture of peeps here doing their lottying in different ways so you'll find someone here who is working along the same lines as you want to go down  :)

Hope you get your weed free, wonderfully fertile soil, lotty which has no rabbits, deers, slugs or pigeons  ;D

Hi Linda - new to allotments myself, and have found this site invaluable (in fact, am on this morning because I was following up a thread on Japanese onions!!)  Only problem is, you end up spending as much time on here as on the lottie  :)

I actually went to my lotty yesterday.  Had a lovely 3 hours (just flew by) with my 11 year old niece who says she loves it there as it has loads of space, no peeps, peaceful and lots of birds.  She lay on the ground just looking up at the sky  :) We planted some onions and leeks while there.  She washed them for me first  :o :o  All the leaves were all over the place by the time she'd finished  ;D  She sowed some mixed chinese leaves, wintering spring onions and Purple Top Milan turnips.

My other niece who is now 24 wants the plot next to mine as the bloke using it is squatting and is only seen late at night furtively picking spuds.  His plot is a right mess as he only does a few yards of it.  I think I'll let her go and pay the rent on it and then he can keep to his little bit and she can have the rest
