Large Cabbage White
>:( Don't like that last one >:( not sure about the others really are they lottie peeps friends, or should we squish em? ;D
How do you get them to pose for you? reason I ask is that my grandson likes creepy crawlies so I bought a net and said see how many white butterfly's you can catch (just thinking of my cabbages) and he got only two >:(
ROY !! :o  Don't you dare squish 'em !! They're ALL beautiful ! ;D  Just let the cabbage whites do their thing, then your grandson can have hours and hours of fun picking off the caterpillars!!  ;)  ;DÂ
Now they are magnificent pictures. I have never seen the first one before or is it a real close up of a small one??
You will get me going again, where is my camera.
:D :D :D :D :D
:DÂ Â ;DÂ Carol !Â
It is a small one, you might know it as a Hedge Brown maybe Carol. I've cropped all the pics to enhance the beautiful markings.  ;)  ;D
i'm lovin' all these pics of butterflies ;D ;D
impressive pics MD :) :)
Roy Don't squish! I don't know how anyone could :o
I grow nastirtiums in thickish rows away from brassicas to divert the cabbage whites. The nastirtiums get covered in caterpillars and hopefully the brassicas don't :)
I mirror everyone else magpie. These are brilliant pics - love the one on the buddelhia, budellia, oh eck...the butterfly bush! Just wish we had some decent butterflies. Haven't seen a peacock, red admiral or anything much except the cabbage whites this year :(
I've had Peacock, Red Admiral, Common Blue, Orange Tip (always lots of them), Hedge Brown, Comma and the inevitable Cabbage Whites, all on the site a mile from the centre of Birmingham. Ina good year, andif Ilook harder, there are others around. There arenever somany as there were around when I was a kid though.
Hiya Di,
I would like to agree with everyone else - butterflies in the garden are wonderful and bring it to life ! ;D ;D
It's nice to see someone has got some butterfly's, Its been a poor year here in North Wales.
Montanum.
Same here. Hardly seen any - only the dreaded CW's which I think have been laying all over my cleomes - I have been picking off loads of tiny caterpillars which have been steadily munching their way through the leaves - Grrrrrrrrrrrr >:( >:(
Lovely photos though BTW Di :)
