Misleading title, but I have grown some Bishop's Children seeds this year (as part of the GW trial).
Here is 'Daddy' - Bishop of Llandaff

And here is my first flowering 'child'

I am looking forward to the others flowering so I can get an impression of the colour range etc. Is anyone else growing Dahlias from seed this year? I would be interested to see how they are doing.
Hi Lord Steve! I was given a daliah grown from seed but some nasty wee beastie has eaten through the stem and my only flower bud is now no more. Yours are quite beautiful and I will have to admire your flowers and pretend they are mine as I think mine is Bishop's Children too. I love the velvety look to the Llandaff - it's positively sexy!
I found some dahlias on the lottie when I inherited and they are now very healthy in the garden. All the flowers are small though - am I supposed to remove some of the buds for big flowers or is it just a variety thing?
lovely pics LS :)
i'm still waiting for my bishop(tuber) to flower~it's struggling due to this arctic weather :'( :'( :'(
Looks good, Steve...my own trials from bought tubers..very disappointed...took cuttings....all yellow, bar three that look like Bishops. Will grow Edinburgh next year....purple decorative with white fringe. What do you do...report back to Gardeners World.?
I am not sure, Ken. This is my first time 'trialling'. I am hoping that someone here or on the beeb or even on GW will tell me what to do next!
Will be on GW I think, as sunflowers last year.
lovely pictures
Great pics L.Steve. I think I prefer daddy to child so far but I'd be interested in seeing more pics as more of the flowers arrive.
I agree - Daddy has a certain 'something' about him! I will see how the others come on in due course.
Anyway, I love your sunflower !
