Title: got some hens at last

Went to chelford market on monday and got myself 12
battery hen and one buff orpringten,The battery hens look in a sorry state but they should look better in a month or so now they are free range. still getting a few eggs.
will let you no how they progress
Have waited 5 years to get them as i dident have the time or space for them till know.
As you can guess in am pleased as punch

Is there anywhere I could get some information on where to get ex battery farm chickens ? Longing for chickens but tight budget. I live in surrey, any info would be great>

;D great to see you've entered the hen keeping world you'll get great enjoyment + lovely eggs . we've got about 50 at the moment (lohhams browns,marans,isa browns,black rocks + 4 white leghorn cockerals AND 5 cute chicks) hoping to take delivery of 30 black rock pullets on 7th august (organic). would like to start getting some rare breeds to help keep  the blood lines going.
