Here is what my new bog garden looks like as of 22nd of july. This is after digging out loads of poor soil, rubble and chalk, lining with plastic and refilling with good topsoil. I have since sorted out the brick edging, but have not got any plats in yet. What looks like hostas planted is in fact a big pot sunk in the soil where I plan to put a small pool complewte with small solar powered pump.
I will post some more updated pictures in due course:

I like the look of that. I can't wait to see more pics as it progresses.
looks like it comimg along nicely, cant wait to see pictures when all is finshed weldone
Great pics GC and it looks like it'll be lovely when it's finished. I could probably do something like that as I can't really have a pond as I am overlooked by so many deciduous trees which shed leaves in massive quantities :( Good leaf mould though :) but a bog garden would be possible and the frogs would like it just as much. :)
Here is the much awaited update:
The 'Wet Bed' (sounds better than 'Bog' i think) is mostly planted and a small pool (complete with fountain) installed. There was also a dryer bit next to it between the wet garden and the alpine bed, which i have also planted now (after diging out yet moresoil and rubbish!)
Here are the photos:

Still a bit of cosmetic finishing off to do, but generaly 'finished' (for now!).
Feel free to ask questions about it.
Richard you have done very well looks good, kept you busy i can tell all that digging.
Only 1 question, could you not cut those "lacey " looking hostas back they are a little past it and are spoiling your hard work. Rosebud.

Yes they are arent they rosebud. I should cut them back. I left them to get some idea of what the area will look like in full growth. Ill get them cut back tomorrow! ;)
That looks really good Richard. You must have worked hard, and it is starting to look brilliant. I love the shape and your selection of plants, which will fill out and have a more natural look in time. :) busy_lizzie
Have you got any astilbes in there? They like their feet damp and are great looking plants. It looks lovely and will be even better when everything gets established.

Yes i have wardy, they are there (all 2 of them!) I'd had them for ages growing in pots because i didnt have anyhwere to plant them that was damp enough (until now ;)).
You probably cant see them since they finished flowering before i planted them

looking lovely GC maturing nicely weldone :)
Great stuff GC Glad you've got astilbes. I've got some in a lovely deep red but I've put them in wrong place unfortunately so will whip them about when they've done flowering. I put them next to a plant of the same colour and you can't see em. Doh
I like the idea of a bog as they're so good for frogs etc. I've got a piece of butyl lying about so could make one on the plot.
Post more pics GC as it gets going

The verbena was moved there from somewhere else in the garden and obviously got a little 'bent' while it was growing there!
Glad you like the pictures.
PS the photos were taken at the end of august, but even since then many of the plants have grown considerably. The varigated grass and alstromerias around it have particularly thrived.
Coming along really well Richard, Your plants filling out nicely now. :) busy_lizzie
Looking good Richard. :)
