Title: Teachers gifts
Post by: Mrs Ava on July 26, 2005, 13:01:02
Today is the last day of term for number one daughter, and when I asked her what she would like to give her teacher as a thankyou the first thing she said, a yellow and green courgette!  So, today, in a lovely little bag with ribbon, were 2 of my shiniest firmest courgettes.  She went to school a very happy bunny, and I now have a little more room in my fridge!

Summer holidays start now!  YAY!!

Good choice, Number One daughter!  Very attractive, tasty and healthier than chocolate. Lucky teacher! :D I've been to 2 house warming parties in the last week and instead of flowers took a selection of my best round, yellow and green courgettes.  Went down a treat.  If any of my mates move in September, though, it's likely to be either extra hot chillies or butternut squashes...

Picking 3 courgettes a day and increasing, will start to lose technicians at work as buddies soon I think!

isn't it lovely that number one daughter appreciates the beauty of courgettes?
clearly not a child too impressed by materialistic nonsense and obviously proud of her mum's efforts,
a credit to you EJ  ;D

That's lovely to hear. My son also took homemade/grown gifts for his teachers, much better than going out and buying a box of chocolates.

This year I plan to make all my Christmas presents. I'm busy putting together a list and will be making a start soon as schools are back in September, that will give me plenty to time to get organised. I want to make my own gift tags and christmas cards as well. :) If anyone has any suggestions on homemade gifts please let me know, I'm always on the look out for extra ideas :D

Handmade biccies in a package perhaps home made.  I think homemade Christmas gift tags are much better than bought ones and it gives me lots of pleasure sitting there making them on Boxing Day in front of the telly watching a film and having some treats.  We usually all get involved as it's not just for the children  ;D   Homemade sweets are good too and there are lots of recipes about  :)

Jewellery made at home is rewarding and fairly simple and there are some good books in the library  :)

I always give some homemade chutney - in fact just gave away the last 2 jars from last year.  Last year was rhubarb, ginger and sultana.  Not sure what to do this year - might be chilli based though - to eat with delicious melons.  Also give homemade choccies - really simple recipe - unfortunately these disappear rather quickly whilst I'm making them though  ;)

i plan to give small hamper type thingies with one small bottle/jar of each of the following. green tom chutney, blackberry jam, sloe gin, end of the garden pickles.
for families with too many kids to buy for we always make gingerbread houses with chooie coin roof and jelly bean window frames.
you can make the gingerbread yourself, or cheat and buy the flatpacked version in ikea and just enjoy the icing and sweets part Tara xx

I got loads of chocolates - and I do not like chocolate much.  Would have much preferred bottled ale.
