with a root like this??
Trying to be Romanesco, but failing dismally!!
Tim, I was expecting calabrese to look green like in the shops but it looks like yours - although not so uniform. They have had that pinkish appearance and uneven growth since first appearing. Is that normal? Iain
I put a courgette strainght in to the ground that started to wilt, when I dug it up some horrible litte white grubs were eating the root and there was nopthing left.
Iain - pink sounds like nutrient deficiency? My things should look greenish yellow.
And 'uniform'? - wish one knew - lime, muck, moisture, how grown on??
I will try and get a picture and see if that helps. Iain
Just as a matter of (?) interest, this is what the head was like. Very calabresey shoots.
With the first mini-leek - remember the seed packets??
It still looks good eating. Was it?
Give me an hour & I'll tell you!!
My Romanesco are going nowhere! A few little leaves sprouting but the whole thing is only a few inches high yet - a long way to go!
Wardy - yes!! Couldn't post all pm.
Well up to the best broccoli flavour.
That looks very tasty indeed Tim :) I bet they're your toms too :)
Do you reckon the Romanesco has superior flavour then? I ask as I'm trying to grow it too :)
I reckon it's tops for flavour - but does it come in at the right time for you??
