Post by: BAGGY on July 23, 2005, 20:15:34
A bucket of spuds, 4 carrotts (two legged variety), 5 beetroots, red and white onions, two heads of calabrese, yellow climbing beans, bolted lettuce, yellow and green french beans and a MOUSE !!!!  :o
I know we have all brought the occasional slug, snail or spider etc but anyone brought a mouse home before ??

Had it with cheese sauce with the calabrese.  I thought it rather fitting.  Seriously worried now in case his family are missing him.

I have come to the conclusion that he wasn't a lotty mouse - one from the garden as I left my trug ('borrowed' plastic supermarket basket) on the back step.  I thought he was a spud when I picked the basket up.  Then he did a runner and so did I.  Thankfully Merlypuss was snoozing indoors when he made good his escape.  He did munch some of the beetroot though but I will forgive him that.

;D LOL you lot. 1p on the beans I can see Mr Tesco taking action now.

Were they on BOGOF offer (buy one get one free)?

I have my eye on a DIY trolley for the plants for sale in the spring. Nice and easy to wheel in and out!

Lovely photos Wardy, especially the bottom one...what are the leaves? Pak choi & mustard??

And have you been on the sherry again? (top photo)

The purple one might be a mustard, Red Giant?

Talking of orientals, I've been enjoying my mibuna this year. It grows really well in shade, which is handy. Never really got on with mizuna taste wise, I have to say...and I can't get my mitsuba to germinate!

That is a lovely haul Wardy ;) (haven't spotted the Genie yet) I I've had a glut of courgettes and me being the only one in the family that will eat them, well I'm getting bored with the way I'm cooking em ::) I have been frying them with a sprinkling of mixed herbs, what ways do others cook these before I dump em with boredom (I hate wasting food) especially if I have grown them. :( :)

I've only got two plants, but have had a fair few off them.  At first it was plain sauteed in butter, then mixed with peppers and onions.  Then complaints started, so, have been 'disguising' them in chilli, lasagne, curry, bacon pasta sauce.  Hubby doesn't mind, but the sprog (who is 12), has threatened to go out and just chop the blooming courgette plants down!!  Maybe I'd better cook something without them in tomorrow!  However, he has been eating what has been put in front of him despite the complaints...... mum, what's this green stuff........
