Hi. My beautiful Lily Nipon blooms are turning pink as they fade. This didn't happen last year and I think is looks unsightly. Can't think of anything I'm doing differently so any ideas?

Many flowers change colour after pollination as a warning to insects that there is no pollen available. The colour change makes the flowers 'invisible' to the bees. I am not sure if this is what has happened to your lilies though.
That's interesting, I didn't know that. The strange thing is that last year I had so many hovver flies who stripped each flower of its pollen really quickly but this year, apart from the odd bee, I've seen no insects near them, even before they turned pink. Baffling, isn't it?

Could be that last year was odd and this year is the normal reaction!
could it be the weather recently?? last year was damp and dull all summer, this year its been very dry and sunny and warm. maybe this is the plants reaction to this change?
Whatever the reason Georgie - I think those lillies look fabulous in the pink ! ;D ;D :D
LOL, Marianne, it's kind of you to say so but I can't agree - they bu--er up the colour scheme and I'm far from fond of pink!  :(
So, it I can't get to the bottom of the problem, they are yours!  ;)
