Sorry Tim!  We chose leeks to do our controlled thing on the In bloom allotment.  My mate whose idea it was and reconsidered and said we should have done tomatoes which would have given clearer results (we think)

We have done sheep manure in dilution, comfrey tea, Maxicrop and just plain water on the leeks.  Up to press there doesn't seem any difference at all but it's early days.  Tomatoes next time

Not so "controlled" Tim. But last year with OUTDOOR tomatoes I fed only about half the plants - it was soon very clear which plants had not been fed as the yield was significantly lower and there was also a difference in the taste to those poor plants I didn't feed.
