Title: Garden Peas
Post by: Roy Bham UK on July 18, 2005, 20:56:16
I planted a load of garden pea seedlings a couple of weeks ago and have noticed that they are already producing pods about 2" long, the plants have only recently fopped over and are very small. ???

Question is will they grow bigger and stronger at this early stage? as my peas sown at the beginning of the season are big and bushy and have now come to an end but the pods didn't show as quickly as these have, I haven't even got round to netting the new ones yet. ???

Are these the same variety as you grew earlier?
In any case, many of mine, especially at edges of plot where it's really dry, were stunted, and didn't get bigger, the pods didn't fill out either. Perhaps I should have tried to water them.

Roy I noticed my lotty neighbour has peas which are dead low growing but didn't notice if he'd got peas on.  Will check today  :)

Roy, Half my peas have stayed very small and stunted, and the other half have gone very bushy.

They were all sewn at the same time and are a 50/50 mix of ambassador and onward.

Other lottie owners on the site have had the same problem.  We have put it down to the weird weather we've had.
