Title: ANGRY...... an update
Post by: Margaret on July 17, 2005, 18:55:39
Hi all.Thank you so much each and every one of you who replied.I passed on all your messages to my sister and Mark.I have been waiting for progress to be made before i let you all know the outcome, though it is of course ongoing.

The day it happened ,by the time my sister and her husband got home it was in the early hours of Saturday morning. They then spent the rest of saturday at the hospital before bringing him home.Sunday was a day spent talking over what to do,and so Monday they went  up to the school and had a long disciussion with the headmaster. He of course had been made fully aware of the situation and had already suspended the yob involved. At his own suggestion he was all for them involving the police.Apparently that is the school  policy, where an assault takes place. He is liasing with them at every stage.

The police are taking the incident very seriously and have asked Mark just how far he wants to go,with their help of course,in bringing the perpetrator to justice. He is in his class at school and even if expelled over it ,his mates will still be around so he has to be made aware of a possible backlash, though of course the school will keep a very close eye on things.Mark would not have to go to court,it would be done by a video, made beforehand,in private. They are going to charge him with GBH,and even if let off with a caution,he will then have a criminal record. The headmaster is awaiting the outcome before making a decision on what to do for the best.

They have been told he WILL be due for compensation, but it can take up to a year.A very nice policeman has been assigned to Marks case and has been gentle but persuasive in getting the truth for the record. Not only did this yob bend his arm back but he kicked his shins to make him lose his footing, and he has  huge bruising there too.He admits to doing it on purpose, but swears he did not mean to hurt him so badly(no of course he didn't) >:(

Mark is starting to feel better and goes for xrays next week to see if it is mending properly. They had to put a wire through the bones to stabilise the joint as it is so close to his shoulder. But he is still in pain and on painkillers.

Happily ,the headmaster is fixing up his missed work experience for his return to school in september as soon as it is practical to do so ,so he won't miss out. That has cheered him up! He and his mum are coming up soon for a visit(they live in Croydon) and i think he will get a bit spoilt by us all,(his gran and his aunts and uncles!)

Once again thanks for your support, good wishes and advice. You are a great bunch.  :D

Same here too Margaret. I'm really pleased to hear about you Nephew's work placement too.

Looking forward to hearing the outcome, hope it's in your Nephew's favour and NOT just a slap on the wrist for the bully.

It sounds as though the school's handling it reasonably well, though I don't think that the kid who did it should be at school! The girls responsible for kicking a door into my head got a caution, and was expelled, so at least they were seen to be doing something serious about it. It's a pity it has to reach the stage of a serious assault before anything gets done though.

Hello Margaret,

Just found your post as I have problems with receiving new posts.

I am glad the situation is in hand and hope the culprits will be firmly punished.  I hate to read about bullying as my grand daughter has had similar problems and it stays with them forever !  :-[

I look forward to hearing the outcome of the case very soon.  Good luck Margaret!  ;) :D :)

So glad it seems to be going sensibly and hope he's better soon. And really good news he hasn't missed out on his work experience.
