Title: T&M sale - recommendations please!
Post by: plot51A on July 13, 2005, 09:34:25
My local independent GC has a 50% sale on all their Thompson & Morgan seeds. Whilst I only buy the occasional T&M offering they do seem to have some interesting things in their range. Does anyone have any particular recommendations for things I should grab to try next year? Have been extrememly restrained so far and limited myself to the little round courgettes, a melon flavoured turnip  :o and 2 packets of carrots - try, try, try again.....

I've bought a fair bit from T&M over the years. Have grown:
Broad Bean : Aquadulce Claudia & Imperial Green Longpod,
Climbing Bean : Cobra,
Dwarf Bean : Delinel,
Beetroot : Boltardy & Detroit 2,
Brussels Sprout : Peer Gynt,
Cabbage : Green Valley F1, Carrot Autumn King & early Nantes
(also Purple Dragon & Yellowstone but I wouldn't bother with them again - no taste)
Chenopodium foliosum Strawberry Sticks (wouldn't bother again - no taste).
Golden Berry also called Physalis primosa or Physallis edulis, very good.

Given the high price of T&M seed, evn a half price offer is not very enticing

....and the fact that some packets, like their tomatoes, only have about half a dozen seeds in them...

Agree with you both generally which is why I don't normally buy them and the reason for my question - in case I might be missing out on something somebody else had found good! Also I am a bit of a seedaholic. At the other end of the scale, bought a few packets of seeds from Lidl this year at 27p a packet - none have germinated well, and I won't be trying again even at that price!
