Title: Bolted Rocket... can I eat it?
Post by: Gadfium on July 12, 2005, 17:33:14
Wasn't quite sure which section of the board to post this in...

Erm, all the rocket now looks like a lovely flowered border. Very pretty, and all the insects think it's great. I think so too, soothing, and pleasing to the eye.

But can I eat any of it?

Cook it? Soup it? or is it compost fodder?

I haven't a clue.

Anyone?

have you tried munching on a leaf?
they have become more sharp, but if you like the flavour, go for it. it wont be poisonous or anything :)

mine has bolted too while i was on hols - i am clearing some of it onto the compost and some into my salad bowl, and sowing fresh stuff, too :)

Mine's all gone too. Just stems & flowers!

The flowers are tasty, and look great on a salad.

Thank-you.

:)

Munched on a leaf, and found it quite nice.

So I had a bolted rocket leaf and rocket flower salad (minus the black bugs), with balsamic dressing, radishes, and a handful of pumpkin seeds on the top.

Definitely better than the compost heap.
