Title: Cucumbers - again!!!!!
Post by: Icyberjunkie on July 11, 2005, 22:29:03
Now we have a hosepipe ban I was wandering about the watering regime.    Will they need lots of water to stay healthy and produce good fruit or will just watering when needed be enough, or will that result in split fruit like with tomatoes?

Also will they need tomorite-ing or similar?

I'm sure Marmite really is nice Tim.......... :P

Oh yes,  they are outside if that makes a difference

Hi Icy! Not 100% up on cucumber husbandry... but they do need loads of water and a feed at least once a week. You poor thing having ban, been lucky so far.   Lottie  ;D

My cucumbers are romping away ;D (smug grin)

I haven't fed them yet so will do so tonight.

Choice of feed: Steeped smelly seaweed (in container

with lid firmly on it  :-X)

or

Proprietary  tomato feed.

Which is best??

Outdoors? I never feed them. But a seaweed mist will help anything.

Under glass Tim, in unheated greenhouse.

I shall treat cautiously with diluted seaweed feed.

Debs - that was one for Icy.

And see elsewhere about trace elements only in seaweed.

Okay thanks for that.  I'll have arms like tree trunks by the time the hoses are back on!!
