Spotted loads of them in Water Gardens this afternoon, think they are so pretty.

Lovely Carol.  We have loads in our garden at the moment, and a fair few dragonflies.  They are lovely, and you have a rather excellent camera!  Such a sharp clear pic,  Gorgeous!

That's a damselfly (smaller relative of the dragonflies), evidently a Coenagrion, but I'm not sure which one.

That is a lovely shot.  I'm waiting for a dragon or damselfly to come to my little pond in a sink. I saw something the other day. Much shorter in the body with black and gold stripes. Not a hoverfly or such like. It was very eye catching. No camera at the ready unfortunately.

We had literally dozens of these little blue ones on the allotment on Sunday, and the granddaddy of all dragonflies (3-4 inch body) going beserk trying to chase them all off!  Don't think he was hunting them as he seemed to prefer butterflies, taking at least three on the wing while we were watching, much to my son's gruesome enjoyment!
