stunning! Especially love that first photo.
Are they annuals or periennials or a mix?
glad you like them a. :)
they are a mix
Those are beautiful, although I'm not a flower person, we have only wild poppies that pop into our garden as and when they feel. ;D
Are those grown from seed? I might try them as my wife quite likes poppies. 8)
I will do you a deal GW, you save me some of the seeds from that nearly black one as a trade for the chilean glory vine seeds I am saving you! ;D ;D ;D The vine is rampant and covered in flowers now - lovely! I have my eye on a different coloured one, apricot with a red throat that is growing through a hole in a fence down a lane I walk through....if it seeds, I shall be nabbing those!
:D Double Wow!!
What stunners. Especially precious as they don't last long. No poppies in my patch, >:( am heading for the seed catalogues now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh those are simply divine Greenwizzard! I adore poppies but don't have much success with them. I grew the red and white ones a couple of years ago but they never came back. I don't think they like my moist soil. I've got big orange ornamental poppies on the go at the moment - tangerine something or other. Keep your fingers crossed for me will you?
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm lush! :)
Ooooh delightful !!! Adorable !! Beautiful !! ;D ;D :o
sorry EJ but i've cut them back ~ very bedraggled looking :'( :'(
but my wee pal porgy's have still to flower so i've just asked her to save some seeds for you :)
let me know your addresss & i'll send them on
the danish flag (red&white)& irish velvet(white&black) are grown from seed & the others are perennial~ sorry i've taken so long to get back to you RB
Absolutely divine!!!!.
Your Poppies are absolutely beautiful, marvellous photography as well. Well done
They are beautiful Greenwizard - thank you for posting them - poppies are my favourite flowers :).
thanks R,C&J :)
GW they are stunning what lovely colours and such variety
I love poppies.
The first pic reminds me of a Flamenco dancer's skirts.
I adore the pure white one. I'll have to have one!!
I have a purpley mauve poppy that has sprung up all over the place. I don't know what it is or where it came from but I aint complainin!
Brilliant pics Gee Doubleyer!
the frothy cream & maroon poppies are from a mix called 'irish velvet' from mr fothergill's seeds
Great photo's GW. I think Heldi's description of the first red one is spot on. Well seen and well captured. Also like the composition of the comp photo.
What camera are you using ? and do you usually just leave it on auto or are you experimenting ?
When we came back from our holiday, birds must have kindly scattered some poppy seeds for us. Seem to be everywhere. Also not complaining. Will try and get a photo at the weekend if they are still with us.
it's a kodak cx7525~mostly on close up mode
I'm really impressed with the cameras ability. Thinking of buying a small digital camera for holidays etc. Dont have the macro ability on my slr unless I buy a lens to allow it.
Thanks for the info. ;D
these photos are incredible - so very beautiful - I had no idea there were so many different spectacular poppy varieties....HP
