Any ideas on how to get rid or at least make sure they dont return next year ?
Dont really want to kill them, quite like them in fact, but i want my compost back !!
I had a nest under a bit of stone paving by my pond. Fascinating to see them go back n forth, but they seem to have moved on on their own accord, I haven't seen any activity in weeks :(
Hi Fingle, We had a bumblebee nest in our compost last year. We didn't get rid of it, just tried to work with them. My husband pushed a piece of plastic drainpipe down into our compost for the bees to get in and out and we just continued to put stuff on top. This worked very well, as we saw the bees just come and go quite safely with no harm to either of us. In the spring the bees were well gone and we removed the drainpipe and just dug our lovely well rotted compost out as usual. :D busy_lizzie
