Post by: daveandtara on July 07, 2005, 14:24:45
the raspberries in my garden have finished fruiting now so i went to cut down this years canes and noticed several new canes quite far from the original plants (about four feet away).
since these canes are in way there can i move them to my allotment?
if so, when?

Wait till they're dormant and they can be moved quite safely. I have them sprouting all over the place; this winter's project is going to be sorting out that patch.

Thanks phil and robert, that really is great news  ;D
i plan to make a sort of hedge round my plot (eventually) incorperating some prickly brambles to deter the vandals. (it's got so bad that we're not allowed wooden sheds as they get fire bombed). if soft fruits can be moved then this project is going to be soooo much cheaper!
thanks, you guys have made my day ;D ;D ;D
