Well, what did you all think of the French PM'S comments? :o
Our food bad !! He should come along to my lottie and taste some of the produce that's in that and he might just change his mind!!
I wonder what hooha would have been made if our PM had made comments about France like that (bet he wishes he could ;))
Wonder if I should eat my French beans!!
I don't think Jacques Chirac did his country any favours toward persuading the judges to put Paris as an Olympic host, I think he may have "cooked his goose" ;DÂ and I would think Spain maybe wringing their hands at the thought of one of their famous "Posh" residents ;D representing the UK might just tip the balance for a Spanish win. :o
Chirac might have done it on purpose to lumber us with the games instead of France. All depends on how you see the Olympics I guess! ;D
I loved Egon Ronay's quote reported on the Beeb website yesterday. Went something like:
"A man that full of bile shouldn't comment on cuisine"
It was remarked on radio 4 this morning that when Rick Stein cooked dinner for Chirac a few years ago, the President chose to drink German lager instead of French wine with his meal. Stein's comment was that such a man is not a gourmet...
moonbells
French food who needs it when our food is brilliant, that fool does not know what he is waffling about. They are pig ignorant anyway.
What else do you expect from a nation that eat horses and frogs?
I almost fell off my fence laughing.
Hahahahahahahahahaha.
I dunno with all this slagging the French...everyone seems to forget they eat snails too. Imagine the good they are doing!!!Ha! Surprised at allotmenteers here giving them a hard time, someone who kills and eats snails is a friend of mine for life...
I have eaten horse in my time, it was delicious, like a fantastic roast beef. It was in Japan, which was surprising as I was led to believe that buddhists didn't eat animals with four legs, or animals that helped them i.e. as a means of transport/ploughing fields and the like.
In 1996 I worked at Disneyland Paris staying with a host family. My wife-then girlfriend visited me and stayed with my HF. They put on a big spread for her near the end of her week's stay, frog's legs and escargot. Omg, I nearly had a fit, it was gross. But then again I eat raw fish all the time (sushi) and people are forever telling me that that's gross too....
chacun a son gout
And the tour de france, what a wonderful spectacle! I could watch live all day and then the highlights at night (and have done on occasion)Â A beautiful country...
Now I'm not saying it or they are ALL good, but just introducing a bit of balance....that's all...
Ciaran
ps, practically every day, my mrs gives me a hard time about killing and eating cows, pigs, chickens etc etc. And her from the land of rising sun that kills whales for "research" then handily sells the meat to burger joints. yeah, every day is a fun day in the ciaran household lol a la Mrs. Merton " now lets have a heated debate"
I had frogs legs at our local pub's French night. Chef asked me what I thought. I said "they tasted watery". Well they did ;D

The main religion in Japan is Shintoism - but I do not know what their dietry rules are.
