Title: little lost long tailed tit
Post by: moonbells on July 05, 2005, 10:56:37
This little baby was fluttering round the garden on Saturday looking awfully lost. It had no fear (was at one point less than a yard away) and so we reckon it hadn't had the chance to find out about bad things yet.  It eventually flew off into the ivy, where I think they were nesting.

Aaaww!  We have a young blackbird who is following us around the garden each time we go out there, hopping along about a yard behind, I have never seen a blackbird like that before - robins yes, but not blackbirds.  Perhaps he is the same as your long tailed tit and hasn't learnt about danger yet.

What a superb photograph Moonbells, well done.  I'm so jealous you have that wee little fella so close to you!  Even though it's scary to see them so fearless, it's also lovely to get so close.  Same thing happened with me and the baby Blue Tits in my garden (pictures somewhere around the gallery I think) but mum was never far away from us, keeping her watchful beady eye open, LOL.

Lovely picture.   I would love to see a LTT close up.  I have been having a touch of anxiety with the fledged Starlings, blackbirds and Thrushes.  Dont know why but they all seem to be fascinated with the Pond.  Last night a baby landed on top of a water lily.  Ooo  I was sure one of them was going to end up in the water, so had to stay and watch that they were OK.
