Title: Thought I had another rat.
Post by: redimp on July 02, 2005, 09:46:13
Hear a scrabbling sound and gnawing in the kitchen last night which was very reminiscent of the sounds the rats used to make whilst taking apart the back of our fridge.  Investigated and saw rodent teeth and a grey muzzle sticking out a hole where the pipes go upstairs.  Was just about to go to war but D decided to investigate further and it turned out that our youngest's hamster had escaped.

The only reason I didn't is because I did not have anything to hand.  Squirted it with water instead - for all the good that would have done if it had been a rat  ;D

Hahahahaha, my hamster got out and apparently lived for 4 years quite happily under the floorboards!
My mouse got out once and was seen climbing up the curtain above my Nan's head, luckily she never knew! ;D  ;D  ;D

We actually saw a rat on our plot yesterday, in broad daylight!

We were sitting on our bench having a well earned rest from some serious weeding when we saw him bounding towards us across the grass. When he realised we were there he stopped, looked a bit confused, then legged it back into the undergrowth. I suspect there's a lot of wildlife in next door's plot as it's seriously overgrown.

Personally I've nothing against rats. He doesn't seem to nick any of my veggies but he did look quite portly so he's not going hungry. No idea why he was out and about during the day though.
