When would be the best time to sow seeds from raspberries and redcurrants?

I have no expert advice on this, but if I were planning to sow using seed from my own fruit, I would collect very ripe fruit, squeeze out the pips and dry them, then plant them in mid summer.  Keep them in the greenhouse or coldframe over winter then in spring, if they are big enough, plant them out on the plot, or pot on until they are big enough to put out.

They won't come true from seed, so you don't know what you're going to end up with. Cuttings would be faster and true to type.
