There are 10 types of people in the world
Those that understand binary and those that don't.

::) I don't know if I should grin, grit my teeth or smile embarrassingly and pretend I understand. Is it 1 and 0 or 1 to 10. ??? ::)

I'm old ::) please explain in simple terms :P

In Binary 10 (one nought) is equal to 2 in base 10, so 11 (one one) is equal to 3.
Are you old enough to remember writing H.T.U (hundreds, tens, units)above the columns when you did sums at school?
In Binary, the column headings are 1, 2',4,8, etc.
To change to decimal(base ten) you merely add the columns up in which there is a 1.
So 10, there is a 1 in the 2 column and nothing in the 1 column. 2 and 0 = 2
11, 1 in the 2 column and 1 in the 1 column. 2=1=3

To change from decimal to binary, you divide by 2 and write down the remainder. You keep on doing that until you  get an answer of 1
So 9 in decimal to Binary is
9/2=4 r. 1
4/2=2 r. 0
2/2=1 r. 0
Write them down last to first and you get 1001.
Boom Boom.
Am I sad or what  that I know how to do this?
Can actually change from base 10 to any base and from any base to 10. Now that is really sad. Or just an ex Primary school teacher!

::) Oh Geez! ::) Is that all it is ??? So what you are saying is that 5 beans or beads are = two beans a bean, a bean and a half and half a bean =5?

Thanks Eric ;) I'm much wiser now ;D Tee hee, ;D now where can I stick this chewing gum? ;D
