I have some first year Autumn bliss raspberries that are fruiting on the old stem I planted. Does this mean I will get a double crop this year as the new canes should also bear fruit later in the year?
Should I have stopped this happening? I only have a small space to grow these on so how do I get the most from them?
Questions questions.....

As I understand this is indeed possible!
Whereas you have succesfully stumbled across this good fortune it is possible to actually do this by design... I read that in my RHS book but am sorry that I cannot remember as to how you do it...
p.s. I am also growing Autumn Bliss Raspberries so if you get some any time soon let us know how they taste! ;D

My Rasberry Cane have been really slow to grow. They were planted in Feb . Out of the 20 canes I Planted 10 have shown small amounts of life, with only one shooting up a new cane! :(
Maybe just a little young for lots of this yr martha
i have planted quiet a few newbie plants this yr and some shown alot of life as in respect of leaves and small amounts of fruit and others very minimal as in a couple of leaves and no fruit but im hopeing next yr will be a lot better fingers crossed

I planted some Autumn Bliss Feb 04 and got a double crop last year. They fruited about this time then again in the Autumn. Didn't get very many as it was their first year however what there was were gorgeous (although after my 4 year old had been over the bushes there were even less for me!)
