Title: Is this a real old Jalo ?
Post by: growmore on June 24, 2005, 12:19:59
I saw this in an old guys shed as I was clearing him a wasps nest out ...
So I borrowed it to try and take some pics of..
It had 3 tools with it a ridger,Plough and weedknives ...
I have  never seen th old jalo with the wide wheel on front .
But it is too well made for it to be home made so wondered if anyone could put a name to it...

The standard Jalo arrangement was for either one thin wheel running in the muddle of the frame, or two wheels attached each side of the frame.
I still use my Jalo for a wide range of gardening jobs.
The machine had quite a few attachments incuding rake, scarifier, lawn aeretor as well as the ridger and plough you showed in the photo.   I also have a seed sowing attachment, which apparently was tried, but never fully developed - it being too expensive
The wide 'roller' type wheel I haven't seen before, and it was not in the last catalogue I saw.
The original frame was made from a cast alloy.
