Title: Different coleslaw
Post by: Mrs Ava on June 23, 2005, 22:44:38
Now the courgettes are coming thick and fast I decided, with a little help from Doris P, to try something different.

Finely shredded heart from one spring cabbage
finely shredded red onion
finely shredded yellow courgette (I used an orange zester!)

Combine with a splodge of mayo and serve in a cluster of mixed lettuce leaves.  The different colours looked great, and all produce was home grown!  ;D

Oh EJ it sounds great! And all home grown!! ;D

Last night made a different slawey thing too!
mange touts, red pepper, yellow turnip, carrot, all finely shredded. (I wish I had a mandolin!!)  Then tossed it in a orange vinagrette and the juice n zest of a lime, and a couple of teaspoons white wine vinegar. S & P, then cooked a couple of bundles af rice noodles and tossed them all together, had it with sesame marinaded chicken kebabs was yum! Can't take the credit though cos had seen a similar dish on great food live with salmon, so kinda made up my own variation of it!
Here is the original if anyone is interested!
