Title: Bargain
Post by: Mrs Ava on June 22, 2005, 14:12:57
Had to pop to the little local nursery this morning to get a couple of balls of string, and look what was in the half price section!  It had no label but I am assuming it is an agave, which I bought for three quid!  Looks rather stunning in it's big pot with my other prickly customers!

Definate bargain EJ! I popped into the nursery this morning too, to give one of the girls that works there a watermelon plant I had promised her, came out with 4 plants, but they were all 20% off your honour! ::)  ::)

Dibber - there are LOTS of bargains at our local family run nursery.  Just call in and they will knock off lots of anything because they need the trade.
I think you live in Herts - do you ?

:o That is a real bargain ;) I have no idea of the species as I get confused with images of Agave's and Aloe's at first glace I thought it was an Aloe vera, I love prickly palms, maybe I should grow them on my allotment :D :o 8)

It might well be an aloe Roy, it had no label, the girl didn't have a clue, and my book doesn't have a piccy under either names!  The smaller but taller plant is a hardy aloe, thanks to Deeds for that one, and it has a flower coming!  Spend all year out, along with the fan palm, but I guess the other spiney new comer will have to live in the greenhouse over winter.

;D And makes your skin feel soft after a hard days dig up the lottie ;D chop a bit of leaf and rub it over the back of your hand.

If it is an Aloe vera it has many uses medically, read this, then you can throw away your first aid kit ;D
