Just got back from the Allotment after spending
4 hours weeding between the lines,
With a small bag of goodies.
This is my first post and I aim to offer hope to those just starting to dig over that weedy plot.
When weeds grow faster than veggies
and your back, it starts to hurt
when blister pop upon your hands
and the sweat runs down your shirt.
When the slugs and snails eat more than you
and when there seems to be no end
to weeds and bugs and slimy things
a message do I send.
Keep digging and hoe'ing and planting
keep pinching out the weeds,
keep watering and tending the good stuff
and it shall answer your veggie needs.
2 years turning an allotment full of weeds

into a place of peace and plenty

That produces such wonderful delights.

New early potates, rainbow chard, Broccoli, and broad Beans.
Makes all the hard work worth it and me a happy man.
Now if I could just keep the slugs of the Strawberrys.....
Wow that looks great! I love seeing before and after pics!
What a transformation. Could that be a Northern town?
Nice bit of fresh air, there!
What sort of broccoli?
Hello AntZ
WElcome to these boards !
What a marvellous job you have done with your allotment! Well done!
And your produce is fantastic. I have one question - How long did you have to wait for your broad beans to grow to that size?
:D
A Northern town indeed, Keighley in West Yorkshire.
Broccoli on refelction is actually Calabrese.
The Broad beans have over wintered in the Allotment although we do have some planted this spring that are flowering like mad at the moment.
Allotmenting is a strange beast, to make the work easier the 1st allotment was shared between myself and my brother inlaw. enough space for both of us and more than enough work to do. All was fine until the plot next door came free and.............. we took on that as well......... Now the plot next door to that is free ...... I wonder if we could persuade our wives that three plots would be as easy to run as two?
Thanks for the info AntZ. Only my broad beans are also flowering like mad but I was wondering when to expect the beans to appear ??? ::)
Someone advised me to take up knitting whilst waiting ;D ;) Will it be THAT long?
:o What a transformation :o well done and welcome ;)
and I like your poem Antz
Welcome to the group ;)
