Hi all!!!
My swedes haven't germinated - so I have three rows empty and waiting for new produce!!
What can I still plant at this time of year?
Nobbs xx ???
Depends what appeals to you but oriental veggies pak choi etc are ok to put in now and they soon romp away :)
i agree, the chinese greens germinate well and are ready to pick very quickly.
you could also sow carrots.
Probably depends on where you are/temperature/dryness or otherwise, but maybe lettuce, spinach, rocket, parsley, coriander ...?
Why not sow some more swedes?
Radishes ??? ::) ;D
Radish!!!
Thats all we are eating at present!!!
Nobbs xx :o
I'm with Merry Tiller, more swedes! Mine went in about 3 weeks ago and are on their first true leaves. Never had luck before so am keeping everything crossed!
I agree with EJ and Merry Tiller....more Swedes. My 1st lot didn't germinate so set again 2 weeks ago with a liberal sprinkling of Derris (organic) to avoid the plague of flea beetle we seem to get. They are well through now and I guess they will catch up!
I started my swedes off in modules, they have just gone out and look great at the moment! The proof will be in the pulling! :-\
That's very interesting Doris, what sort of size are they when you put them out?
Swede's, och ya dinnae wan' tae plant swedes mon...its neeps ye want laddie, neeps!
Or for you southerners turnips ;) Can plant seeds for ages yet but be careful of flea beetle.
NEEPS
I thought NEEPS was an allergy
like sporan itch and
Haggis Finger
;D
My Neeps (Turnips) Latin (Brassica rapa var. rapifera) have not been planted out yet and are still under glass.
Last year the mice ate them!
Bloody Mice
Mice I have no problem with (wish I hadn't just said though!!!), flea beetle I have lots of so grow them with derris powders help having taken the advice of people in here. Didn't know they would take transplanting though thinking they were like parsnips and carrots.
