Title: My garden
Post by: Diesel on June 13, 2005, 11:35:02
Since I like looking at other peoples gardens I thought I would share some pics of mine.
When we moved in about 2 and a half years ago the house was in such a state we had to leave the garden while we worked on it.
The garden was a mature cottage style but was a little worse for wear by the time we got round to doing something with it.

this was in April 2003 and the only thing I had done at this stage was replace the archway leading to the pond. The previous one required a limbo dance to get through.

This is 1 year later (last may) after some time spent relaying the lawn and edging the border.
I also filled in the pond at the back and put down a pretty large deck area.(well my brother in law done most of the work but I did help :P )

looking through the arch to the deck. The top bed is now a mass of lavender and bamboo.

Wow, looks gorgeous! I'd post a picture of our back yard but it would be pretty dull in comparison!  :)

That looks lovely.  Restful and enticing - you just have to walk down and through the arch just to see what's there.  Great work!

Oh fantastic Diesal, but i am afraid that i got carried away, walked down you lawn, under the arch (without having to limbo ;D) and on onto your deck area to drink your wine   :-[  :P  ;D

Im afraid the red didn't last long enough to check the vintage.

It was a good one though if I remember correctly.

Beautiful. You've done a really good job there Diesel.

Come on Caz and Baz, I posted a picture of mine on the Hall of Shame thread. Pictures were my back garden, my front garden is a jungle and not fit to be seen (shame it's constantly on public show  :() If you show yours, I'll show mine  ;D

I see you've already got the vino out ready for my visit!

Lovely garden. Do you ever just lay on the grass and let out a contented sigh? It looks very inviting.

Yeah the grass is one of my fave bits. The deck is a suntrap and gets very warm.
The grass gets a lot of shade from the borders so is nice and cool.
I had a week off work and decided I was gonna relay it.Took me the whole week to do it though lol but since it was my first attempt I didn't mind and was pleased with the outcome.I learned a few things about what not to do if I have to redo another one.All good fun though  ;D

Yes, your lawn looks marvellous, how do you do it?!

I would love some arbours & arches for our garden, but this year's budget went on link-a-bord and beanpoles, LOL.  Mebbe one day... they certainly invite you to explore the garden, don't they?  Draw the eye, focal point and all that.   :D

most definately charlotte.Especially once they grow in and create a "secret" seperate area. The archway cost about £30 all in.I just bought long pieces of timber and sawed it to size.Bodged together in an afternoon really but it is sturdy.....for now anyway :P
