Help please! I got some new strawberry plants last autumn - they've taken fine, loads of flowers, setting fruit - now the biggest berries have disappeared, and not because they're ripe, still green. No trace left. Can it be those mice that seem to have eaten 2 sowings of peas even though they were netted? Should I net the strawberries? Newbie at all this and haven't a clue what to do!!
Yes you should def net them.
Before I netted mine I had deer eat all the leaves.
i can watch blackbirds go for the unripe strawberries from my balcony. so, whatever eats them, gets some nets :)
I had some beauties ready to pluck for Sunday lunch, but only hours before, the hens ate them!!
Still at least she laid a double yolker to say sorry!
def agree with all other posts. Net them! We even had a horse munch on the plants last year when being taken up to the field, so mice, deer, birds, horses, dogs, frogs and toads watch out you have competition this yr my 2 yr old son!!!
Thanks very much all - netted now, still some left so better late than never I hope!
