Post by: Palustris on June 10, 2005, 16:53:25
I have manged in the past to get cuttings from the ordinary hebes with no trouble, but the whipcord ones like H armstrongii and laingii, I have totally failed. Anyone ever had any success and got any tips?

Hi Palustris,

I agree with Lottie, layering might work. In my experience Hebes seem to be really good at doing this themselves. Don't know if the Whipcords do though but it's worth a try.

Had a look in my book about How to propogate anything!!! It says "Semi-ripe cuttings -late Summer-early autumn, in a propagator with gentle bottom heat" Takes 4-8 weeks.  Again, be gentle.....!! Lottie
