Hello :D,
We're thinking of getting some sort of grass cutting machine (strimmer, mower, ?) for the use on the 'lotment and our tiny lawn at home. I like the idea of a hand-push mower so that we don't have to worry about petrol/batteries running out. Has anyone ever used one? would you recommend it? any particular makes/models?

It's hard work. It's OK with a small lawn if you keep on top of it, but I wouldn't go beyond that. If you do get one, keep the blades really sharp.
Hi Flo
I picked up an old push style lawn mower that had been put in a skip. The bottom blade needed replacing but it works a treat now
Check the car boot sales for a push along bargain...no one wants 'em these days

We threw away our hover mower about 3 years ago and bought a Qualcast push type mower. We don't have a huge amount of grass but I find this much more fun than the old one. Also grass seems to be in much better condition with this one. In addition to all this it saves one trip to the gym every week.
Thanks guys,
We checked out a website, www.greenwharehouse.co.uk, and they have two different models, both of which look pretty groovy, SO, we think we are going to get one! Yay...
We will let you all know, 'cause I know you are all interested, how we get along ;)

DON'T be tempted by a cheap new one!! We were, doesn't adjust, chews up the grass..........
We have reverted to the electric one for now. I think OH quite fancies a sit on one - is that a tad over the top for 30 square feet of grass??
You could get some guinea pigs!
We've also got a Qualcast push mower and its great, Do agree that you've got to keep them sharpened. when we firstgot it we all used to argue about who was going to use it - didn't last long tho! Have fun with your new toy ;D
