Title: Caterpillar...Wildlife or Pest?
Post by: Jane the Novice on June 09, 2005, 16:23:48
Had a couple of days away at the beginning of the week. Came home from work today and had my first opportunity this week to inspect the garden. I have discovered a "family" of caterpillars has almost stripped my Verbascum. I don't mind too much if they are going to turn into beautiful butterflies. Can anybody ID it please?

simple - it's the catepillar of the mullein moth. They only eat vebascum/mullein. I would call them wildlife.

I always have them; I get self-set mullein, and if it's not in the way I let it grow.

On my allotment eating my greens, pests!
In the garden educating the kids, wildlife!
