Is this unusual in frond formation? As all of my ferns have flat fronds, quite pretty though don’t you think? ;D

Ooooohhh!! How beautiful ! :D
Yes that is preety Roy, it reminds me of a little Christmas tree.
Ive got a fern this year that i am very happy with too and its been lovely watching it unfold.
Hi Roy,
Looks like Polystichum setiferum. Its a cultivar of the Shield fern, very nice fern, I've got the same one. I have always liked ferns, and I'm often busy potting them up from where they have found a home, to be transfered to a more suitable spot.
Brian
Isn't that a lovely fern? ;D
I love the way the fronds uncurl like that :)
;) Your spot on Brian...Fern Polystichum setiferum plumosum densum. fully hardy fern :o that's according to my stock list and I am supposed to have three dunno where the other two are though ???
Thank you all for the nice comments ;) ;D
Thata beautiful Roy. Such a gorgeous shape. Im putting together a woodland area in my garden and this is just the sort of thing that I am looking for. How big does it get??? So far all that I have planted are native ferns 'relocated' from the woods at the back of the house, hostas, bluebells, snowdrops and daffs for the spring.
I've got a similar one Mimi, polystichum setiferum plumosum multiobum (looks exactly the same though) and supposedly spreads 4ft x 3ft.

The book says 50cm (20") high x 60cm (24") spread, mine is in a small terracotta pot and is approx. 40cm (16") high x 50cm (20") spread ;) Too late for a piccy I spose? your woodland area sounds lovely Mimi :)
