Title: Stage one!
Post by: pembo on June 07, 2005, 23:04:57
Been down on the new lottie for a couple of hours and cleared enough space to plant cabbage and caulie plants, and two courgettes. (Area about 12' x 5') Thrilled to see something actually IN !  Next step to clear a bit more, and then a bit more and on and on!!  The ground was very well dug last year, so fork goes in like butter.  Thistles are rampant though, so the war is on.
Never done this before, but advised to do a bit at a time.  So really enjoying it.  Got brilliant neighbours on each side.  One already given me more cabbage plants!  I cant get over how friendly the folks are, and how ready to help all they can.  Wish I had done it all years ago...

Congrats Pembo.  Sounds like my lottie and related people when I got it this year.   Be warned though.  Almost as fast you clear it the weedlings (as opposed to your own seedlings!)  will germinate far faster so keep the hoe in use! My famous last words to my wife were " Now its cleared you'll see more of me cos its just a case of letting things grow and weeding occasionally {GG}.  However, sometimes she gets to see me twice in one week........... lol

Good one Pembo!  It is the best feeling ever to see plants that you planted growing.  Better still when they are harvestable!  Now we need to see some photos!!  ;D
