I have just seen a topic in Non Edible Plants, mentioning Chincherinchees.
I first saw these flowers, when I was serving my apprenticeship as a florist - more years ago than I care to remember!!!!
They were called the Rattlesnake flower, because, apparently, when they were growing in the fields (was it in South Africa?), when the wind blew through them, they made a noise like a rattlesnake.
Funny, the things which stick in your mind, isn't it.
;)
:) They are lovely we grow them for cutting as well as the garden ;D
If I remember correctly, Marley - they are long lived flowers, too - aren't they?
:) Yes they do last a long time :) which is what makes them so nice, they are a good cut flower too :) It's good to have those memories :) hold on to them :) :)
It is funny how some things you never forget, isn't it.
I can still remember my boss holding a bunch of the flowers, and shaking them to let us hear the rattle.
Amazing.
:)
:) Certainly is, I am lucky too in that I can remember a long way back. :) Hope I always hold on to them (memories that is) ??? ??? ;D I didn't know they rattled though :) When mine are over I shall have a listen ;D ;D ;D
;D ;D
Mind you don't forget.
I have a shocking memory - but some things just seem to stick.
;D Tell me about it ;D some things just don't seem to want to stay with me :o :o fotget them as soon as I hear them ??? :) luckily not garden stuff on the whole ??? :) ;D ;D
Did I hear Someone say it's somthing to do with age ??? ??? ;D
I never rely on my memory - I have notes posted all over the place.
Just have to remember to look at them though!!!!
;D
;D Know the feeling exactly am now looking at post its around my cupbourd doors but as you say you do have to remember to read them ;D ;D ;D never mind ::) I think I become blind to them some days!!!!!! ;D ;D sad I suppose ;D
